For over a decade, Athavarn has worked on social justice projects in several non-profit, public sector, and arts organizations. His work spans human rights, economic justice, urban planning, philanthropy, participatory democracy, and youth engagement. As a facilitator, he has supported groups to vision, strategize, and navigate complexity together. He believes in the transformative power of human connection for navigating periods of uncertainty, crisis, and change. 

Athavarn has worked with organizations like Amnesty International, CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation, Simon Fraser University, and Family Service Toronto. As a consultant, he has supported We Are Purposeful, The City of Toronto, Guernica Magazine, Adi Magazine, Forus International, and the Loran Scholars Foundation. His work has taken him to Sri Lanka, India, South Africa, the United States, and every province and territory in Canada. 

Athavarn is currently a graduate student at the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, where he is completing his MA in Adult Education and Community Development. Athavarn holds an undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of Ottawa and a certificate in non-profit leadership from Brock University. 

Athavarn writes about memory, futurity, political consciousness, and emotion. His writing can be found in ANMLY Press and The North-Eastern.

He has an active spiritual practice as an astrologer and intuitive reader. He loves R&B, sci-fi, hiking, powerlifting, pour-over coffee, cooking, his friends, and his family. He currently lives in Toronto, Canada.
